Can I have a remote starter system installed in my vehicle?
Yes, Ultra Start remote starter systems are designed to
interface with virtually any vehicle that has a 12-volt
electrical system, this include cars, trucks and SUVs. All
Ultra Start remote start systems are designed to work with
automatic or manual transmission vehicles with gas, diesel
or hybrid engines.

Can I install this
unit myself?
Yes, although this is not recommended. The
installation of a remote starter should be left to a

If I
have an aftermarket security or factory keyless entry
installed in my vehicle, Can I use the transmitter to
activate the remote starter?
Yes, the Ultra Start add-on remote
starter with work for this application. This will typically
require the user to press a button on the original remote
2-3 times to activate remote start.

Can I have
a remote starter installed in my vehicle even if my
vehicle has a Factory anti-theft or alarm system?
Yes, although you may require addition parts and labor at
the time of installation. Modules known as “Bypass Modules”
are installed to temporally override the factory anti-theft
while the remote is activated. These modules are generally
“vehicle specific” and the module needed will be determined
by your dealer.

Will I
still be able to use my vehicle's OEM systems if I
install a remote starter?
Yes, All Ultra Start systems are designed to be installed in
parallel with the vehicle’s existing OEM features, this
allows the user to continue using the OEM remote as they
wish.

Is
having a Remote Starter installed safe?
Yes, Ultra Start remote starters are designed with safety
in-mind. All of our systems will shut down the engine if the
hood is opened, the brake pedal is pushed or when the
programmed runtime expires. Ultra Start systems can easily
be placed into Service Mode. This disables the remote start
function if the vehicle needs to be serviced. Click on the

Is having a
Remote Starter installed in a manual transmission
vehicle safe?
Yes, Ultra Start remote starters are available in both
automatic and manual transmission models. To safely remote
start the vehicle the user must follow a “Reservation Mode”
or “Ready Mode” sequence. This sequences is used to ensure
that the vehicle has been left in neutral.

Can my vehicle be stolen while it is running by the
remote starter?
This would be next to impossible. All remote starters have
safety and theft prevention features built in. The ignition
key must be inserted before driving, if not the engine will
shut off when the brake is pressed. It is recommended to
ensure the vehicle is locked at all times while the remote
starter is in operation.

What is
the benefit of having the keyless entry option installed?
Although this is an optional feature it is one of the most
common requests. This feature from factory can cost hundreds
of dollars when you purchase your vehicle, when added during
a remote start installation it is considerably less. The
keyless entry option prevents the scratching of the door
that occurs when you use the key to unlock or lock the
doors, you will never have to be concerned about the lock
cylinder freezing in the cold weather

Will installing a
remote engine starter void my vehicle’s original
manufacturer’s warranty?
To be brief, No. Laws are in place to protect consumers and
allow you to have such devices as remote starters installed.
However, if the added device is of questionable quality, or
is installed improperly, warranty issues can be brought into
play. Your best choice is to always have any remote start
system installed by a professional authorized dealer.

The remote
starter does not activate when the Start button is pressed?
If the remote starter does not activate when the remote
start button is pressed, the park lights will flash a
diagnostic code. Count the park lights flashes and select
the according FAQ question.

The park lights on the vehicle
flash Slow 3 times when I press the Start button?
This indicates that the system is in Service Mode. Turn your
ignition key to the on position then hold the button on the
antenna for 8 seconds.

This diagnostic is applicable to manual transmission models
only. The system has not been set into

5 times when I press the Start button?
This indicates that the hood pin switch is open or broken.
The hood pin switch is a sensor that detects when the hood
is opened. Have your dealer inspect this switch. Make sure
you are pressing the start button (star).

This indicates that the ignition key is in the on position.
The key must be off when making a remote start attempt. Make
sure you are pressing the start button (star).

This indicates that the brake switch input of the remote
starter has detected voltage. This will happen if the brake wire is connected to the wrong wire or if a taillight
bulb is replaced with the incorrect bulb. Have your dealer
inspect the brake switch connection and lighting system.

The park lights on the vehicle flash
7 times when I press the Start button?
This indicates that the remote starter has not yet been
programmed for remote start or that the remote starter has
tried to start the engine and did not recognize the tach
signal.
Reset the system and relearn the tach.
